AMD and Anthropic reach $5 billion AI infrastructure deal

AMD says it's going to invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic, while helping to expand the AI company's computing power, according to an announcement on Wednesday. As part of the new partnership, Anthropic will deploy up to 2 gigawatts of AMD's Instinct MI450 AI GPUs using the chipmaker's new Helios rack-scale system, as reported earlier by The Wall Street Journal. The companies plan to deploy the first gigawatt in the first half of 2027, building upon recent data center deals Anthropic has reached with SpaceX and TeraWulf. Anthropic has also signed AI infrastructure deals with Google, Broadcom...

Menlo Ventures’ Matt Murphy explains what AI startups founders must do differently

Anthropic leaped to a $47 billion revenue run rate by May, compared to $9 billion in 2025. It’s the kind of growth that Menlo Ventures’ Matt Murphy says he’s never seen in 25 years of investing, not in the internet wave, not in mobile, not in the first cloud boom. Menlo led Anthropic’s $500M Series D, and Murphy has had a front-row seat as the company went from a pre-revenue, […]

Anthropic’s $1.5 billion book piracy settlement approved by judge

A federal judge has signed off on Anthropic's $1.5 billion class action settlement with authors who accused the company of training its AI models on copyrighted books, as reported earlier by Reuters. In an order on Monday, Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín writes that the settlement will provide "meaningful relief," offering authors around $3,000 for each book allegedly pirated by Anthropic. The $1.5 billion settlement is the "largest known copyright recovery in history," according to the law firm representing the plaintiffs. A group of authors - Andrea Bartz, Charles Graeber, and Kirk Wallace Jo...

Google launches a cheaper alternative to large AI security models like Mythos

Google is launching Gemini 3.6 Flash alongside a new security model dedicated to quickly finding and patching security vulnerabilities. In a blog post on Tuesday, Google describes Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber as a "cost-efficient and highly capable alternative" to larger, more expensive AI systems, such as the one offered by Anthropic's Mythos. The cybersecurity model is built upon Gemini 3.5 Flash and will be available first to governments and trusted partners via CodeMender, Google's security-focused coding agent. As noted by Google, CodeMender can call upon 3.5 Flash Cyber "multiple times at hig...

America needs to stop getting shocked by Chinese AI

SHANGHAI, CHINA - JULY 20 2026: People visit the booth of Kimi, an LLM developed by the Chinese startup Moonshot, during the World AI Conference in Shanghai, China, Monday, July 20, 2026. | Image: LONG WEI/ Feature China/Future Publishing via Getty Images Last week, two Chinese AI companies unveiled models they say can credibly compete with the best systems from OpenAI and Anthropic. The response was swift and predictable. Markets wobbled, commentators declared Silicon Valley shooketh, and policymakers reached for the familiar language of arms races and wake-up calls. In one headline, The Ass...

China delivers a one-two punch to America’s AI dominance

China's leading AI companies are ramping up the pressure on Silicon Valley, as Moonshot and Alibaba unveiled models they claim can go toe-to-toe with the best from OpenAI and Anthropic at a fraction of the cost. The rapid-fire releases suggest America's lead at the AI frontier is increasingly tight, just as the technology is becoming central to national security, economic power, and geopolitical influence. The opening salvo came from Beijing-based Moonshot AI, one of China's leading AI model developers, which unveiled Kimi K3 on Friday. Moonshot claims its own testing ranks it consistently ab...

Claude can now use your 1Password credentials for you

1Password has launched a new browser integration for Claude that allows the Anthropic chatbot to access stored security credentials like usernames and passwords. The 1Password for Claude feature means that users can authorize Claude to complete multi-step tasks like booking travel and managing online accounts on their behalf without having to manually input their login credentials, but without actually exposing your security information to Anthropic's AI models, according to 1Password. That's made possible by a new "zero-exposure security framework" developed by 1Password, which works by inje...

Agentic orchestration: Enterprise AI organizations have a deployment problem, not a platform problem — and most are calling chatbots agents

Across 101 enterprises, agent orchestration is consolidating onto model-provider platforms — Anthropic’s Claude leads by a wide margin — chosen for the gravity of the underlying model and judged on reliable multi-step execution. But the ambition runs well ahead of the reality: most deployed “agents” are still chatbot wrappers, the control plane enterprises expect is deliberately hybrid to avoid lock-in, and real-time fiscal control over token burn remains the exception. This wave of VentureBeat Pulse Research examines enterprise agent orchestration: which platforms enterprises run on, what dr...
